How To : Karmic Koala and Broadcom Wireless BCM4312 rev 01
Update Nov 11, 2009 :
Do not follow this post and please update your installed package using your favorite package manager such Synaptic or apt-get or whatever and your Broadcom BCM4312 will working properly :
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-karmic
If your Broadcom wireless BCM4312 did not working after upgrading your packages because of you did what this post say, please roll back your changes :
#unblacklist ssb module : sudo echo "" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ssb.conf #unblacklist wl module : sudo echo "" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-wl.conf #restarting your system : sudo reboot

For a week I can’t use my wireless. This problem makes me installing fresh Ubuntu Karmic Koala in my lapie for 3 times, sadly 
.
First of all, if your system same as my own, just try this trick. But if different, hmm, try with google 
.
I found this trick from Ubuntu Forum posted by chenxiaolong, thanks chenx, you save my lapie.
So, open your terminal, and check your wireless first :
lspci | grep Broadcom 03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev 01)
If your wireless looks like that, let’s continue :
#install linux backport : sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-karmic #blacklist ssb module : sudo echo "blacklist ssb" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ssb.conf #blacklist wl module : sudo echo "blacklist wl" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-wl.conf #restarting your system : sudo reboot
That’s all, after restarting, enjoy your wireless

Pertamax-tamax, marilah kita buka menu : System->Administration->Software Sources
Pada tab pertamax (Ubuntu Software), ada Combobox “Download From”, pilihlah yg paling dekat dengan Anda. Klo saya meskipun lagi di UGM, saya pilih UI (Indonesia->kambing.ui.ac.id)
Tutup window Software sources.
Keduax-keduak, marilah kita buka menu : System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager.
Lalu klik tombol reload (ini gunanya untuk mengindex program”/paket” yg ada di server yg Anda pilih tadi).
Ketigax-ketigax. Apakah Anda punya masalah sama seperti postingan ini? klo tidak, ya sudah, cukup sampe disini, Anda bisa menginstall program yg Anda butuhkan dari kolom Quick search di Synaptic tersebut.
klo iya, bisa Anda lakukan dari Synaptic Package Manager ada kolom Quick search, disitu tulis aja linux-backports-modules-karmic, nanti pasti muncul.
Keempatx-empatx, centangin yg linux-backports-modules-karmic (nomor 1 dari hasil pencarian), lalu Apply. Kalo udah selesai installnya, kembali ke terminal, ketikkan :
sudo su [ENTER, masukkan password]
echo “blacklist ssb” | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ssb.conf [ENTER]
echo “blacklist wl” | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-wl.conf [ENTER]
reboot [ENTER]

di acer aspire nya nyonya juga udah jalan wifi nya tapi file yang musti dikosongi ini /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-bcm43.conf , terima kasih ya

salam kenal, gw baru aja pake karmic sebelum2 ya paka jack jaunty. pada 9,04 gak ada masalah dengan wireless driver gw. tapi pas gw pake karmic, malah wireless bermasalah. bingung gw, semua yang ada pada perintah di atas (yang bro tampilkan) sudah saya lakukan tapi tetap aja tidak bisa. ketika hardware driver gw aktivin muncul cannot activated coba cek di var/log/jockey.log. setelah gw cek di situ, ternyata module wl tidak ditemukan. so apa yang saya harus lakukan? mohon infonya…
waduh klo ngk ada koneksi ngk bs kah mas?

ada cara y ngk perlu koneksi internet ngk y???
mas, saya bbrp wakti lalu install ubuntu lucid netbook edition, sy mo nanya.. lampu wifinya nyala, tp kok oranye.. kl wjrnya kyknya biru, trus pas dicb di hotspotan bsa, tp sinyalnya naik turun.. gak stabil kdang –kb/s, pdhl sinyal hotspotnya 70%an. netbok sy acer one 532h.. wifinya atheros.. makasih sblmnya.
Mas, minta bantuannya. Laptop saya aspire 4720z, pake ubuntu lucid. Masalahnya pada wifinya ga kedetect, klo pada ubuntu sebelumnya saya nginstallnya lewat internet, jadi bisa, klo sekarang gimana caranya install ga pake koneksi internet ya? maslahnya lagi tidak memungkinkan ada koneksi internet ke laptop.
(NB: Saya sudah mencoba menggunakan NDISGTK. tapi tetap tidak bisa)
