[ad#ad-post]
Note : This tutorial is only for Canon PIXMA iP1800 or iP1900 series with Ubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10).

Once again, my Karmic Koala makes a problem, I can’t print with Canon iP1800 series using my Karmic Koala (my printer is Canon iP1880).
I asked Mr.Google and found Edgar Ilaga’s post in Ubuntu Forums.
And then I’m repackaged Canon PIXMA iP1900 drivers from http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010647.asp, because of owner issue problem in file /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstocanonij and then modified the drivers by following the instruction from Edgar’s post.

Enough for the bullshit, let’s start…

  1. Download repackaged Canon PIXMA iP1900 :
    Download from Ziddu.
  2. Extract it :
    tar -zxvf Canon-Pixma-iP1900-iP1800-KarmicKoala.tar.gz
  3. Enter to directory :
    cd Canon-Pixma-iP1900-iP1800-KarmicKoala
  4. Install cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb
    sudo dpkg -i cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb
  5. Install cnijfilter-ip1900series_3.00-1_i386.deb
    sudo dpkg -i cnijfilter-ip1900series_3.00-1_i386.deb
  6. Plug in your Printer.

If you are using Canon iP1900 series, it’s done. But if you are using Canon iP1800 series, we still got some steps left…
